Job Description

Join our team as a Hospital Coding Specialist III and contribute to improving healthcare through accurate coding and documentation. This remote position offers flexible work options and a supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures using ICD guidelines and UHDDS
Assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG for complex inpatient services
Review medical record documentation to identify and assign relevant codes
Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists to resolve documentation concerns
Assist in preparing responses to DRG validation requests and third-party payer inquiries

Qualifications

Minimum of three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma or Health Information Management Degree required
Active credential of CCS, RHIT, or RHIA through AHIMA or AAPC required at the time of hire
Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and official coding guidelines
Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
