Join our team as a Hospital Coding Specialist III and work remotely across various states in the U.S. Contribute to accurate coding and make a positive impact on patient care.
Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures using ICD guidelines and UHDDS.
Assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG for complex inpatient services.
Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists to address documentation concerns.
Prepare responses to DRG validation requests and third-party payer inquiries.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA security standards while managing coding tasks.
Minimum educational requirement: AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma or Health Information Management Degree.
Minimum of three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility.
Active credential of Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required at the time of hire.
Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and official coding guidelines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
