Job Description

The Staff Attorney will work to preserve habitable and affordable housing for low-income tenants in Queens, New York, at risk of displacement. They will handle a full caseload, provide representation in court proceedings, and conduct outreach events to empower communities.

Responsibilities

Perform intake and screening for tenants
Represent tenants in court proceedings
Conduct legal research and prepare documents
Collaborate with colleagues and partners
Provide training to staff and community organizations
Maintain case data and assist with grant reporting

Qualifications

Admission to the New York State bar
Minimum 3 years of relevant litigation experience
Experience working with low-income communities
Excellent interpersonal and advocacy skills
Ability to work independently and manage high case load
