Job Description

TownTasks is seeking an Overnight Media Journalist to conduct open-source research and analysis for a high-profile government customer in Washington, DC. This is a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a schedule that covers roughly 11 PM to 7 AM, Monday through Friday. At least one weekend per month
  • Utilize open-source research tools to capture, review, analyze, and interpret traditional and social media coverage
  • Track daily developments including Congressional hearings and other public events for potential compilations and analyses
  • Prepare news update products, briefings and executive summaries on select national security topics
  • Interface with the client virtually on their needs, changing requirements and new topics of interest

Qualifications

  • Bachelors? degree required, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, International Relations or a related major
  • 2+ years of news gathering and analysis experience
  • Experience using Factiva, Lexis-Nexis, TVEyes, Meltwater, Cision, Sprinklr or another social analytics tool
  • Experience and knowledge of current national security and or foreign policy news topics
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
