This policy explains what personal information TownTasks Job Search (search.towntasks.com) collects, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the site.
- When you apply for a job: your name, email address, phone number, city, resume and the answers you give in the application form
- When you sign up for a job alert: your email address and the search you chose
- When you contact us: your name, email address and message
- When you browse: the pages you view, how long you stay, how far you scroll and what you search for, linked to a random ID rather than your name, email or IP address
- Technical details our web server logs for security, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested
How we use it
We use your information to:
- Send your application to the employer or recruiter for that job
- Send the job alerts you asked for (we confirm your email address first)
- Reply when you contact us
- Understand how the site is used and improve it
- Keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. We share it only with:
- The employer or recruiter for the job you apply to
- Service providers that run parts of the site for us, such as hosting and email delivery, who may use it only to provide those services
- Authorities, when the law requires it
Cookies
We use a few first-party cookies and no advertising cookies. You can delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
- _tv: a random visit ID for our analytics, kept for 30 minutes
- _tu: a random visitor ID for our analytics, kept for up to 400 days
- vid: remembers the jobs you saved on this browser, kept for one year
- apply_profile: an encrypted copy of what you typed in an application on this browser, so the next form is filled in for you, kept for 90 days
- Session and XSRF-TOKEN cookies: keep the site working and protect forms, and expire after 2 hours
How long we keep it
We delete information when we no longer need it:
- Applications: as long as the employer needs to consider them and for our records, unless you ask us to delete them sooner
- Job alerts: deleted 90 days after sign-up if never confirmed, and 180 days after you unsubscribe
- Analytics records: deleted after 400 days
- Messages to us: kept as long as needed to answer them; spam is deleted automatically
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, email info@search.towntasks.com from the address you used on the site. We'll reply within 45 days.

- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your information
- Unsubscribe from job alerts at any time, using the link in every alert email
California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
The categories we collect are identifiers (name, email address, phone number), professional information (resume and work history) and internet activity on this site, for the purposes listed above.
Children
The site isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email info@search.towntasks.com and we'll delete it.
Security
We protect your information with:
- HTTPS encryption on every page
- Resumes that can only be opened through signed, expiring links
- Access to personal data limited to the people who run the site
