Tips
Offer two time options when you can; candidates who work shifts often cannot leave mid-day.
Name the interviewer and the format, and say how long it takes, so nobody is surprised.
Say what to bring, such as a license, certifications or safety boots for a shop-floor tour.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far ahead should I schedule an interview?
Two to five business days is common. It gives the candidate time to arrange cover at their current job without losing them to a faster employer.
What subject line should I use?
The job title and your company name, such as "Interview invitation: Forklift Operator at your company". It is easy to find and does not look like spam.
Should the invitation mention pay?
If your state requires a pay range in the job posting, the candidate already knows it. Otherwise, mention it in the first conversation so neither of you wastes time.
What if the candidate does not reply?
Send one short reminder after two business days. If there is still no answer, move on to the next candidate.
